Thanksgiving Freebies 2026: Free Turkeys, Free Offers, and Samples (What’s Confirmed So Far)

Short answer: As of October 21, 2026, one big chain has confirmed a Thanksgiving meal deal: Aldi’s feast for 10 people for under $39, with a 16-pound turkey and classic sides, available through November 25 with no coupon, loyalty card, or membership.
Free-turkey promotions at BJ’s and Giant Eagle, and meal bundles from Walmart, Target, and Kroger, weren’t confirmed for 2026 in the sources we checked. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26.

Most Thanksgiving “deal” posts mix confirmed offers with last year’s. This page keeps them apart, so you know what’s real today and what to watch for in the next few weeks.

What Thanksgiving deals are confirmed for 2026?

Aldi announced its 2026 Thanksgiving meal on October 14. The deal is built around the American Farm Bureau Federation’s core Thanksgiving meal list.

Price: under $39 for 10 people, or less than $4 per person
What’s in it: a 16-pound Farmer’s Choice whole turkey, rolls, stuffing, cranberries, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, a veggie tray, and pumpkin pie ingredients
Dates: October 14 through November 25
Requirements: none. No coupons, loyalty cards, minimum purchases, or memberships
How to shop: look for the turkey logo on shelf tags, or add the whole list to an online cart at ALDI.us/Thanksgiving for pickup or delivery
Catch: actual prices vary by location and stock, and not every item is on shelves the first day

For comparison, Aldi’s 2025 deal was $40 for 10 people with a 14-pound turkey, so this year brings a bigger bird for a slightly lower price.

What did other stores offer last year, and what should you watch for?

These were the 2025 offers. None of them was confirmed for 2026 in the sources we checked as of October 20, so treat them as a watch list.

Retailer 2025 offer 2026 status

Walmart Meal basket for 10, $39.92, with a Butterball turkey at $0.97 per pound Not confirmed in our sources
Target Meal for 4 for $20, with a turkey at $0.79 per pound Not confirmed in our sources
Kroger Freshgiving bundle for 10, about $47.50, announced November 6, 2025 Not announced as of late September
BJ’s Wholesale Club A free Butterball turkey (coupon up to a $25 value) for members who spent $150 or more in a single transaction, November 1 to 10 Not confirmed in our sources
Giant Eagle A free turkey for shoppers who spent at least $350 between October 16 and November 6 Not confirmed in our sources
Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Feast for 10, held under $100 Not confirmed in our sources

If the pattern holds, expect Walmart, Target, and Kroger to announce within the next two to three weeks, and the free-turkey promotions to run in early November.

How do free turkey promotions work?

You spend a set amount and receive a coupon for a free turkey, usually with a short window.

BJ’s: the 2025 version required one transaction of $150 or more, in the club, online, or in the app, and gave a coupon for a fresh or frozen Butterball turkey, up to a $25 value. Membership was required.
Giant Eagle: the 2025 version tracked spending over several weeks on your loyalty account rather than in one transaction.
Local chains: several regional grocers run similar promotions with less advertising. Ask your store.

Free turkey coupons expire quickly and stock can run out, so redeem as soon as you qualify.

Where can you get free Thanksgiving help?

Butterball Turkey Talk-Line. Call 1-800-BUTTERBALL or text 844-877-3456 from November through December 24. Experts answer questions about any brand of turkey, and you can also use the chat on Butterball.com. It’s free, and it has run since 1981.
Food assistance. If a Thanksgiving meal is hard to afford this year, call or text 211 to find local food pantries and community meals. See our 211 guide. Your local food bank can also tell you about Thanksgiving distributions.

How do you get free samples before Thanksgiving?

Grocery stores often add tasting stations in November for seasonal products like stuffing mixes, pies, and cranberry sauce. Warehouse clubs are the easiest places, and our guide to free samples in stores explains where to ask. Sample offers online also appear in November, but we haven’t confirmed any specific Thanksgiving ones for 2026.

What about free restaurant offers?

Some restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day add small extras, such as a free pie slice with a feast, but we haven’t confirmed any 2026 offers. Most announce in early November. Check back, or call the restaurant, and make reservations early.

How should you prep the free turkey?

USDA guidance for thawing in the refrigerator is about 24 hours for every 4 to 5 pounds of turkey. A 16-pound bird needs roughly three to four days, so a bird bought on November 20 may not thaw by November 26 unless you start early. Buy by the weekend before Thanksgiving, or ask the Talk-Line about a faster safe method.
